  1. Good morning and welcome to our Championship blog.

The transfer window closes earlier this summer, on August 8, after the start of the season the weekend before.

Last season, Neil Harris said August was the toughest period of his managerial career, after bids for players unsettled the squad.

Harris hopes for a quieter start to the season this time:

This season the permanent and loan transfer windows shut at a similar time for Premier League and Championship clubs. You are going to be able to loan to lower leagues [after August 8].

I’ve always been a fan of the window shutting before the season starts. It’s still not quite there but I’m glad the date’s come forward for the Championship involving us this year.

What I will say is we can all have an opinion on it but the rules are there and it is what it is. What we have to learn from last summer is experience of a lot of disruption in August. We have learned from that. We have to make sure it doesn’t happen to us as a club again and that we’re more settled.

  2. This is the back page of today's Southwark News.

We've learned that QPR front man Matt Smith is a target for Millwall.

Smith fits the type they're looking for: 6ft 6ins tall, one year left on his contract and within their price and wage range.

Pick up a copy of the paper for the rest of the Millwall news and news from around the Borough.

  3. Played for Millwall between 1966 and 1968.

#Millwall Football Club is saddened to hear of the passing of former Lions goalkeeper Lawrie Leslie, at the age of 84. Rest in peace, Lawrie. 💙
  4. Don't think this friendly was included in the club's official list. Millwall played there in 2016 when Danny McNamara, then 16, made an appearance. Should be a few more youngsters to cast the eye over.

LIONS TO VISIT CRABBLE ✅📝🦁 A further friendly has been added to our pre-season schedule as we host a @MillwallFC XI on Monday 29th July, kick off 7:30 pm.
