Afternoon all and welcome to the last match of 2018. The sun is shining at Dens, bit of wind but conditions are pretty decent for a good game - Dundee can make it five unbeaten at home while St Johnstone are going for their sixth straight away win. Which run of form will give?
Dens boss Jim McIntyre has made one change after the 0-0 draw with Livingston in midweek - Martin Woods has recovered from illness and comes in for Benjy Kallman. Paul McGowan is expected to be closest man to lone striker Kenny Miller.
The players are out, both teams wearing blue - Saints in royal, Dundee in dark blue of course. Almost ready to get going...
GOAL! Dundee 0-1 St Johnstone. Tanser
- Thirty-five seconds in and Dundee are behind. Total fluke from Scott Tanser as he crossed from the left and it dropped over Hamilton and in off the post. Disastrous start for the Dark Blues.
- Dundee's first attack sees Calvin Miller smack a cross in but it's too hard.
- Almost 2-0. Dundee's defence looks shellshocked right now and a low cross is weakly cleared straight to Wotherspoon 12 yards out but he hits straight into Hamilton's arms.
- St Johnstone bossing this. Corner to the away side...
- ...eventually cleared but not without a moment of panic.
- St Johnstone all over Dundee when the home side get the ball. There's no way through right now for the Dark Blues.
- Danger again from St Johnstone down the left - this time Tanser's cross is straight to Hamilton.
- Almost for Kenny Miller as Shaughnessy's back header is a bit untidy - Zander Clark was out to meet it, though.
- Dundee inviting more trouble on to them. First Hamilton kicks straight up, then Boyle keeps it in but heads to Watt, O'Dea gets a foot in but it bundles through him and eventually Ralph blocks Kennedy's effort. Really poor.
- Chance St Johnstone. Again Dundee fail to get a foot in and it falls to Kane. His effort is weak, though, and Hamilton deals with it.
- Better from Dundee - Calvin Miller is in down the left, puts across a really tempting cross but there's no one there before Kenny Miller cuts back to Curran. The Aussie's shot was blocked though. Closest Dundee have come.
- Kamara gives away free-kick in a dangerous position out wide. Looked very soft.
- Craig puts it in but O'Dea is up well to meet it and Dundee clear.
- St Johnstone threaten again as Watt plays in Kane but Ralph gets a toe on the return ball and it's still just 1-0.
- Dundee hanging on here. Boyle just gets to a cross ahead of his man before Wotherspoon turns Kerr only to see Hamilton keep out his low effort.
- Another effort on target from Kane, Hamilton saves
- Close! Calvin Miller gets in down the left and fires across goal, inches past the far post. Corner kick...
- Calvin Miller's corner though is woeful. It's kept in and Woods wins a free-kick out on the other wing...
- ...St Johnstone deal with it.
- Calvin Miller has been Dundee's brightest spark and has another go from range but sclaffs the half volley well wide.
A few boos ring out and you can't blame the crowd. Calling Dundee second best is being kind, they've been outplayed by St Johnstone so far. Big half-time team talk coming from the manager.
Dundee sub at half-time: Kallman on for Kamara
Second half kicks off
- St Johnstone straight on the attack but a deflected free-kick is gathered by Hamilton.
- Matty Kennedy has been a threat all day and he bursts into the box and stings the palms of Hamilton with a shot from wide.
- Action at both ends - Curran bursts into the area, eventually gets the ball across but Woods' attempt at the flying volley misses (and injures himself in the process). St Johnstone go up the other end and Kennedy cuts inside but bobbles the shot wide.
- Half-chance Watt but his shot almost goes out for a throw-in.
- St Johnstone still pushing - Liam Craig lines up a long ranger which fires a yard or so past the post. Hamilton never looked worried.
GOAL! Dundee 0-2 St Johnstone. Craig
- Dundee caught sleeping on a short corner - Kennedy whips the ball in and Liam Craig sweeps in. Long way back for the Dark Blues now.
- Boyle takes out Kane and gets a yellow.
- Dundee sub: Adil Nabi on for Calvin Miller.
- Jack Hamilton saves Dundee again. Tony Watt goes for a cheeky flick but the keeper is down quickly to save.
- St Johnstone laying traps all over the pitch for Dundee and the Dark Blues' passing hasn't been nearly good enough today.
- Attendance: 6,868
- Good play from Nabi finds Curran in the area but he goes for goal when laying to McGowan was a better option. Blocked.
- Close! Kallman gets to Curran's fine ball in but his header hits Clark in the Saints goal. Dundee's best chance of the afternoon.
- Should be 3-0. Tony Watt is up well at the far post but heads just over the bar.
- Bit of handbags between the two sides. Martin Woods and Liam Craig were facing off and each gets a booking.
- Corner Dundee. Need something soon...
- ...The ball comes back to Nabi but he dinks a cross over everybody. Jesse Curran leaves one on Matty Kennedy on the breakaway and it's a yellow card.
- St Johnstone subs: McMillan and Swanson on for Watt and Kennedy.
- St Johnstone quite happy to hold Dundee at arms length.
- Nabi puts in a cross but it falls behind Kenny Miller.
- Three minutes to play
+1 - Oles coming from the away crowd as St Johnstone knock it around. Dundee fans heading home in their droves.
Full-time. Boos ring out from the home crowd.
