Lions take on Latics

  1. Hello and welcome to The Den for Millwall's crucial clash with Wigan.

Here's Lions boss Neil Harris on tonight's opponents:

In the modern day, the kids growing up will think of Wigan as quite a big club. Maybe not so much in terms of a fanbase, but in recent history, in the last 20 years they’ve been a Premier League and Championship club for the majority of that.

Paul Cook has done a great job getting them up last year and they’re in a very healthy and wealthy position. It’s no surprise to me they’ve started so well this season. They’ve had stability over a period of time and they play some good football.

It’s a tough game but it’s great to be back at The Den where we feel we’ve been excellent this year. Results could look a lot healthier if games had finished after 89 minutes.

We’ve got two big games, it’s a huge four days for us. Yes there’s a little bit of disappointment still and frustration, certainly, but the players know how well they played at the weekend. They know how we dominated Forest and were much better than Aston Villa. We were miles better than Reading and we got four points from three games, but it should have been nine.

We have to make sure that we keep the ball out at one end, and score more goals at the other end.

    Here's the Wigan side:

  6. Three minutes to kick-off, any predictions? I'll go 1-0 to #Millwall
  7. It's an unbelievable piece of skill from Jed on the right to flick the ball around the defender, spin the other way before collecting possession, but Wigan clear his cross. #Millwall
  8. Gregory breaks to find Elliott, who cuts into the box and takes a tumble, but it was a fair challenge. #Millwall
  9. Jed wins a free-kick near the right corner of the box. #Millwall
  10. In by Fergie and headed away, before Leonard tries to half-volley an awkward ball and it curls wide. #Millwall
  11. Another excellent run off the ball by Gregory and he wins a free-kick wide on the left. Fergie to take... #Millwall
  12. Initially cleared, back in by Fergie, headed out for a throw by Kipre. #Millwall
  13. Elliott has the beating of these two centre-backs, too. #Millwall
  14. #Millwall have made the better start, Wigan are struggling to cope with Gregory's movement.
  15. Leonard fires in a long throw, Cooper back-heads it...and for a moment it looked like it was going to loop over Walton, but he's 6ft 5ins in his socks and he makes the catch. #Millwall
  16. Jed crosses and it's just in front of Fergie right in front of goal. #Millwall get it back...and have a corner.
  17. Headed out by Dunkley, in again by Williams and Murray tries to find Gregory but Walton is there. #Millwall
  18. Amos fires it long towards Elliott, who chests it down and turns, but half-volleys well over. #Millwall
  19. Leonard gets a free-kick inside Wigan's half and Williams will chip it into the box, but the referee sees a foul by Cooper. #Millwall
  20. Williams tries one from outside the box but it's well wide at the near post. #Millwall
  21. How haven't #Millwall taken the lead there? It's a four on three, Wallace finds Gregory who crosses low back to Wallace, who slices his effort and Kipre clears for a corner.
  22. From the second corner the ball falls to Elliott but his shot is blocked. #Millwall
  23. Evans gives it away to Fergie who turns and tries to find the top corner but Walton stretches to catch. #Millwall totally dominant.
  24. Brilliant again from Wallace on the right to nutmeg the defender and then cross towards Gregory, but Kipre gets a toe in to see off the danger. #Millwall
  25. Wigan threaten for one of the first times and Vaughan gets a free-kick on the edge of the area after being fouled by Cooper. #Millwall
  26. Woah, close, as James fizzes a low effort just past the post from that free-kick. #Millwall
  27. And Connolly gets his head to it but flicks it just over the bar. #Millwall
  28. Wigan have grown more into it and get a corner. #Millwall
  29. It was Evans' free-kick into the box and it came off Jed before finding the bottom corner. HT - #Millwall 0-1 Wigan
  30. O'Brien is going to come on. I reckon it'll be Meredith off and Fergie to left-back. #Millwall
  31. O'Brien on for Meredith, Fergie to left-back for #Millwall
  32. Naismith booked for a foul on Romeo, Wallace crosses and Burn clears for a corner. #Millwall
  33. Very brave from Amos to charge out and block as Vaughan slid in. The keeper is limping a bit after that. #Millwall
  34. Cooper is at the back post but Wigan clear. #Millwall
  35. Fergie burst in from the left and his shot deflects to O'Brien, who loops a header across the box but Walton makes an easy catch. #Millwall
  36. Sorry, Windass it was who booted his spot-kick over the bar. #Millwall
  37. Slammed into the top corner. What a minute of football. #Millwall 1-1 Wigan
  38. Wallace curls in a brilliant cross but Gregory can't reach it and it bounces up off O'Brien and wide. #Millwall
  39. It's absolutely all #Millwall as Gregory's shot deflects away for a corner.
  40. O'Brien has made an excellent contribution and he's fouled 25 yards out. Wallace might have a pop... #Millwall
  41. Woah, I was sure that was in and so were a lot of the crowd, but Wallace's free-kick grazes the post and goes wide. #Millwall
  42. If any team is going to win it it's going to be #Millwall
  43. And they get another corner, Williams to take... but Wigan work it clear. #Millwall
  44. What a goal. Wallace nutmegged Naismith before crossing. Leonard's shit was blocked and then Fergie did absolutely brilliantly to play a one-two with Gregory before crossing low for Moro to side-foot home. #Millwall
  45. Hutch on for Jed for #Millwall with four minutes left.
  46. Gregory has a chance in the box...but his shot deflects over for another #Millwall corner.
  47. Wigan launching balls into the box but Wallace defends well there to clear, before Powell heads over. #Millwall
  48. FT - #Millwall 2-1 Wigan. Fully deserved win for the Lions - and maybe a change in fortunes this season after that Wigan penalty miss.
  49. A change in fortune for #Millwall? Veterans ensure they earn a third win of the league season to move out of the bottom three.
  50. That's all from here. All the reaction coming up on NewsAtDen.
