Good afternoon and welcome to a cool McDiarmid Park. Dundee are on the hunt for their first league points of the season at the home of St Johnstone - a side they took nine points from 12 against last campaign.
There's a sizeable travelling Dark Blues support in the stadium today and they'll get a first proper look at new striker Benjamin Kallman as he makes his first start. Sofien Moussa, after his mad 15-minutes last week, remains on the bench.
The players are out, we're a few moments from kick-off. Strangely both sides are wearing their blue home kits - Dundee in dark blue with Saints royal and white shorts.
Game kicks off
- First piece of action for Kallman is a boot in the napper. Welcome to Perth, eh? Looks a sore one but should be OK to continue.
- Dundee have set up in a 4-3-3 formation with Mendy on the right and Nabi left, either side of central striker Kallman. McGowan and Madianga will be powering on from midfield with Kamara sitting.
- Early corner won by Ralph...
- ...Dreadful delivery from Nabi, though. Eventually they get another corner.
- Better this time but there's a foul on goalie Clark.
- Testing ball in behind from Curran almost gets Kallman in. Good start this from Dundee, corner kick to come...
- ...Close! Caulker is up above everybody but nods just wide. Decent chance for the big man.
- Very positive start this from Dundee and the travelling fans appreciate it. All the noise coming from the away end.
- First real danger from the home side sees Tony Watt away down the left - he shoots for the far post but Hamilton saves. Almost drops it in a dangerous position but eventually sorts it out.
- Stoppage as Davidson gets treatment.
- Saints sub: Alston on for Davidson.
- Dundee stroking it about here, pulling the home defence all over the place. Eventually a good passing move sees McGowan have a go at goal but it flies a good couple of yards over.
- Bit of defending to do here as Saints threaten. Corner kick...
- So close! Watt bundles past McGowan from the short corner and fires the ball across goal but it misses everybody. Let off for Dundee.
- Just over! McGowan steals it in midfield and sets Madianga off. He smacks it goalwards from 25 yards but it flies over. Not far away mind.
- Close! Another long shot from Dundee - this time Nabi forces Clark to tip it over. Good strike.
- Heading towards the half-hour mark and there's no question Dundee have been the better side. A far cry from last week against Ayr. Nothing to show for it yet, though.
- Chance St Johnstone! Kennedy gets in down the Dundee right and cuts back for McMillan but he curls it over the bar.
- Big chance St Johnstone! The home side have awoken and Kennedy is in down the left, a clear look at goal but he drags the shot wide of the far post.
- So close Kallman! First Curran brings a good save from Clark then Kallman has a chance for his first goal but, on the turn, his shot dribbles an inch wide of the post.
- Good stop Hamilton! Chances keep coming at both ends as Kennedy hits a volley firmly at goal but Hamilton is there to beat it clear.
- Close Watt! Tony Watt is wide and looking for a cross but tries to catch Hamilton out by smashing it at goal. Good save keeper.
- Concerted pressure from the home side but Dundee's defence holds firm. Corner to defend now...
- ...nothing to worry about, though, as Kennedy's ball in is woeful and sails way over everyone.
- Half-chance for the home side but Kennedy can't reach the cross and heads well over.
- Two minutes added on...
Very enjoyable first half of football at McDiarmid Park. Plenty good play, plenty of chances but still missing an opening goal. Dundee had the better of the opening half-hour but the home side came back into it. Big second half to come.
Second half kicks off
- Chance Dundee! Kamara finds Mendy in the box, he hits it but Clark is down to save.
GOAL! St Johnstone 1-0 Dundee. Watt
- Dundee fall behind as Mendy gives the ball up in midfield and Meekings tries to play Watt offside but is too slow - Watt takes advantage by running in and rolling it past Hamilton.
- It's almost two in two minutes as Alston hooks it into the box and Watt is there but can't connect with his flying header. Saints tails up.
- Another home chance but this time Watt misses his kick completely.
- Dundee on the attack as Caulker meets a Nabi corner and heads goalward but it hits a Saints defender and they get it clear.
- Nice play from Dundee brings a corner. Nabi to take...
- ...It's poor though - almost hits the opposite corner flag.
- Dundee sub: Ngwatala on for Mendy.
- Dundee still patient, still passing it about. Ngwatala finally has a look at goal but doesn't quite catch the shot and it's straight at the keeper.
- Saints on the attack, corner to come...
- Curran dangles a leg and gives away a free-kick in a dangerous area...
- ...Kennedy takes it but it's a good couple of yards over.
- Dundee have lost their way a bit here.
- Nabi threatening but sees his shot blocked.
- Saints sub: Hendry on for McMillan.
- Ngwatala has a go from range but it bobbles straight to the keeper.
- Dundee sub: Moussa on for Madianga. Going for it.
- That change has seen Dundee go 4-4-2 with Ngwatala on the left and Nabi coming from the right.
- Dundee are pushing here but Saints are holding firm.
- Dundee sub: Wighton on for Nabi.
St Johnstone sub: A McCann on for Watt.
- So close! Wighton's first job is to tee up Moussa with a cross but Clark keeps the header out. Big chance!
- Ball is at the wrong end for Dundee.
- Three minutes added on
+1 - Dundee still trying to play through St Johnstone. They've got Moussa on - hit him!
+2 - Time running out. Offside against Kallman.
Another defeat for Dundee - three from three at the start of the season and yet another blank in front of goal.
Performance was much better than against Ayr but unable to turn good play into goals has cost the Dark Blues. Again.
