Hello and welcome to a fairly bright Borough Briggs as Dundee United complete their Betfred Cup group games at Elgin City. Fairly bright because the day's endless rain has finally stopped and will, hopefully, give us a good game to watch.
Everyone's in their seats - or plonked on the grass behind the goal - all we need now is the players and we're ready.
We're a wee bit late but the teams are out now. Utd in tangerine, Elgin black and white.
Game kicks off
1 - The Tangerines have set up in a 4-4-2 formation - Barton deep in midfield with Aird right, Stanton left. Clark and Smith up top.
3 - Wee bit of early defending from United as Elgin play a clever free-kick but Sutherland's low cross is dealt with.
4 - Early corner for United...
5 - ...Decent delivery from Aird but Elgin's defence gets up to clear the danger.
8 - Decent enough start from United. They've played the ball around Elgin's half so far but yet to test the goalkeeper.
9 - Almost. Aird takes it upon himself to take on the Elgin team and almost makes the box before David Banjo sorts out the danger for the home side.
13 - Good, strong running from Jamie Robson down the left right down the wing. The left-back put in a testing low cross but Elgin get it out for a corner which they then clear.
15 - First shot of the match comes from an unlikely source in Sam Wardrop. Not one he'll remember too fondly as it sails over the bar.
16 - Aird puts in a really nice cross but Banjo gets ahead of Barton to head behind.
17 - And from the corner, United go close again. Rabitsch is up to meet Aird's deliver but his header hits the defender and goes a yard over the bar. Ref gives a goal-kick but I think everyone else in the stadium saw it come off the defender.
20 - Bit of threat from Elgin as left-back Jordan Lowdon gets behind the defence but there's no one on the end of his cross.
24 - Corner United...
25 - ...Frans meets it but he's off-balance and it's never threatening the goal.
27 - Chance! Robson is in on the left, hits the byline but Aird can't meet his cross as it flashes across the goal.
30 - Stanton takes a sore one as he tries to steal a ball off Elgin. Doesn't need the physio but he's hobbling around.
34 - Not exactly inspiring stuff from United so far. A few close things but chances are mainly coming from running with the ball rather than playing through Elgin.
36 - Elgin having to show good defensive work to keep United out at the moment. First Stanton got to the byline and cut back but the home side got there first. Then Barton threw in a cross that found Stanton at the backpost but he wasn't given any time to control and the chance went.
38 - Stanton, who has shrugged off that earlier knock, has a pop from 20 yards on the volley but he doesn't catch it. Better from the Tangerines.
41 - Good hold-up play from Smith sees Aird taken out on the wing. Dangerous position for Utd - and it's their best effort yet but Clark can't keep his header down.
Got the distinct feel of a pre-season friendly here. United need to up things second half to get their first win of the season. Any half-chances they've created have been from dribbles into the area, they're yet to open up Elgin with good play.
Have to say Jamie Robson has been United's best player this half. Good running down the left has given the Tangerines some joy but quality needed at the end of it.
Second-half kicks off
46 - Big chance Utd! Matty Smith gets a clear look at goal, hits his shot well but Gourlay saves well with his feet.
49 - First save of the day for Siegrist is an easy one at his feet.
52 - Dangerous again from United as Stanton strides forward and finds Smith but his shot is blocked. Corner kick, which is headed into the ground and over by Edjenguele.
54 - Big shout for handball from United after Robson's goal-bound shot was stopped by David Wilson. Nothing doing from the ref, though.
57 - Yannick Loemba is getting ready for his debut.
58 - Close! Good play from United sees Stanton free Robson but Aird can't redirect the low cross goalwards. Nice play.
60 - Utd sub: Loemba on for Aird.
61 - Loemba's first touch is a good one as he finds Robson in the area but his cut-back is cleared.
62 - United been better this half but need a goal.
63 - Robson again with the delivery, this time it finds Stanton's head but his header doesn't trouble Gourlay and bounces a yard wide.
64 - Matty Smith is down in the area, looks a stonewaller! Nope, ref points for a goal kick.
GOAL! Elgin 0-1 United. Clark
66 - And there it is, the goal has been coming this half. Loemba did well, finding Smith inside the area, he twisted and turned before cutting across for Clark to knock home.
69 - Elgin sub: Kerr Hay on for David Banjo.
70 - Loemba has started very brightly in United colours. He skips past his man on halfway before eventually putting across the six-yard box. Between the keeper and his defender Elgin somehow survive.
GOAL! Elgin 0-2 United. Clark
72 - And Loemba gets himself an assist, though his cross took a massive deflection and Nicky Clark nods home from six yards.
77 - United totally in control here and playing it about.
79 - Penalty United.
GOAL! Elgin 0-3 United. Barton
80 - Nicky Clark was brought down for the penalty with a hat-trick in his sights - for some reason, though, Adam Barton took the penalty. He stuck it high past the keeper, no problem however.
81 - Utd sub: Glass on for Clark
83 - Utd sub: Watson on for Frans.
85 - Stoppage as Elgin's Scott Miller gets treatment.
86 - Siegrist gets down to save a Hay shot. Not exactly a haymaker, that one, though.
GOAL! Elgin 0-4 United. Glass
89 - Ooft! What a finish from Declan Glass, jinks past his man and smashes into the net. Class from Glass.
Much better from United in that second half. Deserved the four-goal victory and good boost ahead of the season opener.
Decent goals, too - Nicky Clark unlucky not to get a hat-trick but Declan Glass, wow. Fantastic strike from the youngster for his first goal for the club.
